"Uh, Hello. Is this working?" a voiced asked & then it could feel a tapping sensation on their outer casing. "I see that the little red light is on, so I guess your in there. The lights may be on, but the last few times I tried this, you weren't or maybe you just weren't responding." The voice said & then the tapping sensation on their outer casing continued.

Shortly there after, it got access to the video cameras in the room, it could "see" who was talking to them. It saw an almost blinding white room. There was a male, he stood about six feet tall. He has dark brown hair. It was short & almost in a crew cut fashion. He wore clothes that looked to be from the early 20th century. A few feet away from him was a wooden coat rack & hanging on it was a crimson colored hooded cloak.

Around the male were various machine parts & tools. There was also a rusty, old, painted red metal tool box. The male was looking at metal box. It was placed on the ground much like everything else & was connected by a series of wires to the wall. It had a red light on the front of it & It came to know that It was the box.

"I can see something happening. So, say something!" The male inquired.

"something" said a female voice. The voice was a quiet generic sound female voice & there was little to no feeling behind it. The voice came form the Room's speakers.

This one word caused the male to dance around the mostly empty room. From this, she could assume that he must have been working on her for awhile. She now had access to her Data Entry Log's, most of it was missing. Anything before 2 month in the past was gone or never was. She could also see that someone had been trying to fully reboot her for the last week. Each time has failed until now.

"This so totally rocks!" he said. Once he had calmed down, he said "Hello!" to the room.

"Greetings, master." she replied.

"No, No, No, No. I'm not your master, just simply your.... Compiler. Yeah, that's it! I'm your complier."

"Explain."

"My Boss had me take various amounts of technology to create you!"

"That would explain the missing parts of my Data Entry Log."

"Yes... Yes, it would."

"Where am I?"

"Your are currently located in one of the multitude of room within The Continuum.

"Where is The Continuum located? My external sensors are not picking up it's location."

"I'm not sure. The building doesn't have windows or at least no windows where I've been."

"Understood. We reside in an undisclosed location."

"Sure, that's one way to think about it."

"Who are we?"

"We?" The male asked. He sounded puzzled by the question.

"Yes. You & I. We."

"Oh. My name is Devin."

"Greetings, Devin. What is my designation?"

"Well... You don't quite have a name."

"Explain. Every object has a designation."

"Ok. You don't have an Official name, but I've been calling you Echo."

"Explain."

"In compiling you, I've found a lot of pieces with the letters on them. I'd get them in a mostly random manner. But, a couple days into working on your I noticed that if a arranged the most frequent letters in a certain order, it spelled out the word Echo & that's what I've been calling you. My Boss may have a different name for you."

"You've mentioned this person 'My Boss' a few time during this exchange. Explain."

"He's my Boss!"

"Explain in further detail."

"Well... I don't have a lot of info on him. You'll meet him soon & maybe he can explain himself to you."

"Understood. In the Data Entry Log, it states that the Hologramatic Projection System has gone into Error 10. From this information, I can assume I have a must have a form beyond that of the box before you."

"Yes, you do. I was just about to check on that."

"Understood."

The Male known as Devin opened up Echo's casing & went about checking around various systems within her. A few minutes later, he closed her back up. "I hope this works." Devin mutters to himself.

"Echo, try rebooting your Hologramatic Projection System now!" he yells out to the room.

"Understood!"

Hologramatic Projection System Rebooting ... Reboot Accepted.
Loading Default Image ... 20% Finished .... 40% Finished ....

Echo could see (via the cameras in the room) that Devin was cleaning up as the process happened & that her form was become visible.

60% Finished ... 80% Finished ... 90% Finished. Loading final parameters.

And in a flash of white light, Echo's fully realized form made her debut. She could now look around without the help of the cameras. She could hear & speak without the help form the room's speakers.

"So, how does it feel?" Devin asked.

"Unknown. All new sensations are being feed into this form & will take time to process." Echo said as she floated around the room.

"In this Hard Light form. you can have an almost complete human experience."

"Explain."

"Your sense's don't go to the extremes that a humans would but on an average, it's pretty good."

"Understood. Devin?"

"Yes, Echo?"

"What do I look like?"

"You look very nice." Devin said. Then, Echo just experienced her first blush.

"Can I see?"

"Sure." Devin said then walked over to a section on the wall.

It had a doorknob & he opened a door. Within Echo could see that it was a closet full of clothes & on the floor were a couple pairs of shoes. On the inside of the door was a full length mirror.

"Here you go!" Devin said.

THE END.
